I am the daughter of Phillip Kapsy, my uncles John, Peter and Lawrence and for a time, my dad worked at “the store.” I have many fond memories of being a little girl in Gilman and of the store itself and I can even remember somewhat, the inside of the one that was torn down before the new “store” was built. My mother Agnes had a beauty shop and my dad had an electrical repair shop next door in the same building, which was next door to my uncle mikies barber shop. I can close my eyes and remember what the back of Kapsys meat locker smelled and looked like. I used to have to go back there and my Uncle Johnny would give me a nickel to go accross the street and buy a green river at the drug store. I am widowed, the mother of 7, my brother Bob has 3 daughters. I have written many poems about my childhood in Gilman, My dad was killed on main street in l947 in a cave in accident. Let me know if anyone would be interested in old photos, poems, etc.
